August Favourites

I usually love doing favourites posts but August was shitty to me. You know that saying, “when it rains it pours”, couldn’t be more accurate. I won’t go into detail because I don’t want to bore you to death with everything.

But I tend to try to keep my blog a happy place but sometimes life can suck and we need to deal with that and talk about it. All month I threw myself into work to try and forget about my issues and it didn’t help, if anything it made things worse.

But through my sadness it means I tried to drown my sorrows in buying new makeup. Retail therapy is my favourite thing to do so I had big orders from Sephora, House of Fraser, Boots, Selfridges and Harrods. Without any more rambling, let’s jump into the favourites…

1)      Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation

I can already see myself going to do a stupid amount of blog posts about this foundation because it is amazing. I have never used a foundation like this one before and I near enough used it all month because I used it nearly every single day!

I was scared to buy this at first because I have oily skin, and oil and a luminous foundation just sounds like it would never work, but there is something about this foundation that just makes it so universal. I am obsessed and I can already feel myself having to buy another soon because I have been using this to death.

2)    Nars Creamy Concealer

This is another product that I have been using all month long. As a matter of fact, I genuinely haven’t used another concealer since I bought this one. It is so amazing. As you probably know from other favourites posts I have been obsessed with the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer since dinosaurs roamed the earth.

Well, now I feel like I have upgraded. Don’t get me wrong I still love the Maybelline but this Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer now has a special place in my heart. The application, coverage and consistency is just amazing and it is the ideal concealer for highlighting under the eyes.

3)    LA Girl Pro Conceal in Beautiful Bronze

This will come as no shock to you but this concealer is still my favourite cream contour. I have mentioned this I think in almost every favourites post. It is so amazing and I just can’t seem to stop using it. I will try something else for a short amount of time, end up throwing it in a draw and getting this one back out!

The LA Girl Concealer is just a super creamy and blendable product and for contouring and bronzing the face it is the bomb. When I put this on the forehead and blend it out it looks amazing. It is funny but this £2.99 product just makes the skin look airbrushed!

4)    MAC Eyeshadows in All that Glitters and Era

I love to use a highlighting eyeshadow on the eyelid. I then go in and use mattes in the shade to contour the eye and give it a nice shape. All That Glitters and Era have fast become my favourite shadows for all over the eyelid.

These two colour are quite similar but All That Glitters has more of a rose gold tint to it. The glitter in these shadows just help to reflect the light near the eye and make them look lighter and brighter.

5)    Seventeen High Drama Eyeliner

I may have mentioned this one before but I think it is worth another mention because it really is a great product. This sets me back £3.99 but for the price it is incredible.

It is absolutely jet black which is a really good thing because most drugstore eyeliners can look really dull. Also, it has a precision tip which makes doing a winged liner just effortless. I have tried all the bigger names like Makeup Forever and Lancôme and there is no difference in the product quality!

6)    Huda Beauty Lashes in Scarlett

I bought these thinking I would wear them all the time. Little could I tell from looking online quite how dramatic these eyelashes were. I put them on and they felt huge and it kind of scared me from using them for a while.

I then had a big night out planned so I reached for these and loved them so much. I had loads of people asking what brand they were because they looked incredible. It just goes to show that stepping out of your comfort zone every now and again is a good thing!

That is, it for my August favourites. I am over here praying that September is kinder to me, and I hope you all have a happy and optimistic month. Just remember that it often does more harm to bottle up your feelings. There is always somebody out there willing to listen to what you have to say, and if you can’t find anybody, there is always me!

All products have links next to the name so be sure to check them out! Please feel free to leave me any comments below because I always love to hear from you guys!

  1. It's definitely okay to have shitty days, weeks, or months and definitely okay to talk about it on your blog, maybe devote a post to your thoughts/bits of your life that you don't usually share? Love the blog btw <3 Completely in love with the Georgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation, but I've never tried anything from Huda Beauty, I need to!
