YSL Touche Eclat Concealer Review

I am going to be honest with you right from the off here. I bought this product purely for the gold packaging. It looks gorgeous and I know it sounds ridiculous but I saw it sitting there on the counter and I needed to buy it. I had also been reading Vogue the day before I went shopping and there was an advertisement with Cara Delevingne using it, so that just scored it some more brownie points!

Now onto the product itself. As the name suggests this is all about the YSL Touché Éclat Concealer/Highlighter. Other than the amazing packaging I bought this because I heard it bounces light away from dark circles. I can’t remember which self-confessed ‘Guru’ it was that said it, but I wanted to jump on that bandwagon!

I used this by applying the YSL Touché Éclat Foundation all over my face, then I went in with this straight onto the skin just underneath my eyes. Then I would take a small fluffy brush like the MAC 217 and blend it into my skin so it was seamless.

Now for some things that I liked about this product, other than the packaging. The product I found to be creamy but not too heavy and it blended into near nothingness but that glow and radiance were left behind. I found that this did lighten the areas underneath my eyes but the darkness wasn’t in anyway covered. I would say that this is a sheer coverage. If you require something more full coverage to completely hide dark areas I would suggest something like the MAC Pro Longwear Concealer rather than this product.

This is something as well that is so handy to throw in my handbag and take out and about with me. At the end of the working day and if I am going out straight from work I will grab this and apply a little in the high points of my face just to re-brighten things back up.

One negative however about this product for me is the applicator. Even though it does make it easy to throw in your bag with the built-in brush it can be unhygienic. For example, if you suffer with breakouts and use this you could be spreading germs around the face. I also like to use this product on brides, but with the built-in brush it means that I have to deposit some on the back of my hand or a pallet and some product ends up being wasted.

Also, this Touché Éclat Concealer seemed to run out really quick, it is only 2.5ml of product which just is a tiny amount for the price that the product costs.

Overall I do love this product, but I don’t use it for the reasons which I initially thought that I would. I use this more of a natural highlighter than I do to cover my dark areas. If you are looking for something that provides more coverage as well as brightness I would recommend MAC Prep & Prime in Light boost.

  1. I really want to try this concealer! I've always admired the packaging from afar as it is quite an expensive product but maybe I will just have to give it a try one day x
