Soap & Glory Thick & Fast Mascara Review

This is one product that I haven’t bought myself. I’m sure other girls around my age will always get Soap & Glory gift sets for Christmas. And this Thick & Fast Mascara came in one of them gift sets. So, it is safe to say that I get one every single Christmas without a shadow of a doubt.

This used to come in a black tube with pink writing on. I would keep it in my draw with my other mascaras but even though I used it often enough, I would never purposely grab it. It made my lashes black but that was it. It didn’t really do anything else.

So this year when I got this mascara and I saw the new packaging I was so excited. It just looked so much better, before it looked rather cheap in appearance. But this is in packaging very similar to the Anastasia Brow Gel. It is a silver packaging with black writing on. Much better than it used to be.

Now for the product inside the tube. I find this poles better than the previous version, I don’t know if they have changed the formula but it seems so much better.

This product to me is a much more black mascara, it seems silly because black is black. But it really isn’t, this is like a glossy black so it makes the colour appear so much stronger. The consistency as well I find to be an improvement. On the older one when you pulled the brush out of the tube it didn’t seem to have much product on, I’m assuming because it was so thick. On the new one when you pull the brush out you can see that it is completely covered in the creamy mascara.

The wand I think has bristles that are too soft. They don’t seem to comb through the lashes very well. The product just seems to sit on the outside of the lash rather than the wand wiggling the product to the root and all the way up.

The smell of this is also quite toxic smelling while you are applying it. I asked my mum what she thought it smelt like and she quite bluntly said turps and she really hit the nail on the head. That is exactly what it smells like. Not nice, but once it is on the lashes you can’t smell it anymore.

When it is on the lashed it really does make them look so much thicker and with a couple of coats you can really see a difference. But I have found that you have to be really careful because it can look clumpy. Also, when I was then trying to remove it, I have to say it was pretty painful and I lost quite a lot of lashes because I was having to be quite vigorous to get it all off.

I do like this product, it is a good drugstore product to keep close by. But you just have to look past the small and make sure that you don’t apply too much.
