MAC Pro Longwear Foundation Review

I am a fan of the whole MAC Pro Longwear range, everything in it for me is a winner, but this foundation I’m just not too sure about it.  I have tried near enough everything in the range, from the foundations, concealer, lip pencils and eyeshadows. I may have said before and I will say it again I like entire sets of products. Like if there is a corresponding concealer to a foundation I have to have it. So, I already had the MAC Pro Longwear Concealer so I had to buy the Pro Longwear Foundation.

The MAC Pro Longwear Foundation for me personally I would say is a miss. I loved the matching concealer so much, I genuinely thought I would follow suit with this one, maybe my expectations for this were far too high. I have seen many people say great things about this foundation and I in no way want to knock it but personally for me and my skin I just could get this to work.

Let’s start this with the positives that I found with this foundation. I loved the packaging, after use just twist the top and it locks it in place so no more can come out. Bloody ingenious for travelling. Before me and my boyfriend lived together I would pack an overnight bag to go and stay at his and so many times I had accidently squirted some of my Chanel Perfection Lumiere Foundation out because I had lost the lid.

Another thing I liked about this MAC Pro Longwear Foundation was the consistency and coverage that it gave. It is a lovely creamy texture, I would say a perfect blend between MAC Face and Body and MAC Studio Fix Fluid. So, it is easily manageable. I like to apply this with my traditional Chanel Foundation Brush then blend it into the skin using a Beauty Blender.

Before I found that way of applying the foundation I have to say that I did have some issues with how this product went on the skin. I could never get a nice even layer of it. To me it always looked patchy, it sat in my pore and really accentuated them and clung to dry patches.

I also thought that this Pro Longwear Foundation oxidises like a right bitch. I applied one layer of it in the morning and then went over the top with my Pro Longwear Concealer in the usual highlight places and by the afternoon I looked like a glowing orange lollipop. It was horrific. Personally, I have never known a foundation oxidise so much, and as I have an olive toned complexion my natural foundation shade is pretty dark to start with so that extra depth really does make a difference.

I do like this foundation, as soon as it is applied. After a few hours of wearing it this foundation just doesn’t work for me personally. If you are interested in this foundation I would suggest going into your local store and asking for a sample size to see how your skin reacts to it.
