My First Sephora Order - UK

As the title of this post suggests, I recently made my first ever Sephora online purchase. Even though here in the UK we do have a lot of different department stores that stock loads of brands we are missing some of the good stuff. And I’m sure I’m not the only one who sits and watches our transatlantic friends on YouTube getting and using their latest Sephora goodies and I’m sat here with the face on because I can’t get it anywhere!

I have looked online for these US brands on UK websites but the prices that they charge are just extortionate. Like a foundation, I wanted was about £25 on Sephora once it had gone through their convertor, but on this UK website somebody was charging nearly £50 for it. I might love make up but I’m not bloody stupid, I would never spend that amount of money on something like that and just be completely ripped off.

Before I went through the whole checkout process I was pretty nervous because I have previously ordered off the Nasty Gal website and when they came to deliver the box of clothes the UPS man said I had to pay him £120 for the taxes and duties on it. This hadn’t been explained to me when I placed the order so I was horrified.

But when you go to checkout on Sephora all taxes and duties are calculated at the basket so you don’t receive any horrible bill when your parcel is delivered. I also found the shipping fee to be really cheap for the package. When you spend over £75 on their website you have a flat rate to pay of £6.

I have been in two minds whether to place this order or not for some time. There have been around 8 things that I wanted to order on Sephora for some time and I have had them saved in my ‘Saved Items’ box on their site. But everything seems to be out of stock all of the time. I would say the most items to be in stock at the same time was around 2 things at a time.

Then I logged on a few weeks ago, and 7 out of the 8 things were in stock so I whacked my bank card out and bought it straight away. The only thing that was out of stock was the Marc Jacobs Re’marc’able Foundation but now they sell that in Harrods so that’s a bonus!

So, I placed the order and I cannot praise Sephora and their shipping company enough. It was around 2 working days later that I logged onto their website to see progress of my order and it had already been despatched.

From there I received an email nearly every day off UPS with updates on my order. The first update said it was going to take 8 working days, which was fine by me because of the distance that it was going to be travelling. Then the next day I got another one saying it was going to be 6 working days. Then finally on the Friday 3 days after I placed the order I received an order off DHL saying it was going to be delivered that day because they had ran earlier than expected.

Then it got delivered!

Even though it was just in a brown box I got so excited because it said Sephora all over it. And the best thing about it is that I didn’t have to pay any taxes or duties on delivery which is what I was worried about.

I really cannot praise the company and their courier enough, it was super quick and the packaging is great. A review is coming up on the individual products that I bought soon. But if you are thinking about ordering from Sephora to the UK, I highly recommend it!
