Estee Lauder Maximum Cover Foundation Review

This is a foundation that I have now owned for a very long time and one that I am still very unsure about. I received two by accident, I added it to my basket twice, paid for it twice and everything and didn’t even know until it got delivered to my house. And I never return things, I know it’s stupid, but I just accept it.

It was the right shade for me so I figured it would get used eventually so I just put it into my draw as a spare. And now it is probably two years later and the second tube has never even come out of the box, so the product inside is probably out of date by now!

On one hand, I love this Estee Lauder Maximum Cover Foundation because it does exactly what it says in the name. It covers and when I say covers I mean everything. It isn’t at all thick in texture but the formula is very high coverage. On my cheeks I have areas of high pigmentation and freckles which I like to cover and this stuff just in one stroke completely covers them. I don’t have to layer it at all. It is buildable if you need it to be but I cannot imagine ever needing to do that.

I usually wear MAC Studio Fix Fluid which is a full coverage foundation, then if my pigmentation is still visible I apply a little MAC Full Coverage Crème Foundation over the top with a damp Beauty Blender, just where I need the coverage and sometimes it is still visible. With this Estee Lauder Maximum Cover Foundation, it is completely covered after one quick application with a buffing brush.

The only thing I don’t like about this foundation is that it has quite an oily texture when I apply it to the face. I put a small amount on my pallet then go in with my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush and buff it in. It takes no effort at all to get it looking flawless, but as the brush is applying the foundation feels quite oily. Once the foundation has settled onto your skin though that feeling goes away.

I have to admit that after I have applied this foundation along with a little concealer and some face powder it goes completely matte and throughout the day doesn’t go oily whatsoever. It is just the initial texture that is a little off putting.

One thing that I will say about this foundation is that it has quite a makeupy smell and I know that is a strange comment seen as though it is a foundation, but I am sure some of you know what I mean. When I first apply this foundation I really cannot stand the smell, by the time I have finished my makeup I can't even smell it anymore, but initially it isn’t great.

Overall, I do like this foundation because it covers everything so well. But, I do think that there are other things that are just as good, like the Marc Jacobs Remarcable foundation.

Please leave me any comments that you may have below and I will get right back to you. I will also link below to where you can find the items mentioned in this post.
